The Museu d ‘Història de la Ciutat (City History Museum) in the Gothic district tells you the history of the city of Barcelona since Roman times. The Palau Padellàs, a Gothic palace, was brought stone by stone from the Carrer de Mercaders to Plaça del Rei in 1931. The reason for this effort was the construction of a road. In the Town History Museum you will find the largest Roman excavation outside Rome.
